Now… now… you’re maybe wondering why in this world am I making this post that talks about an “ancient movie” — as far as the new generation is concerned — entitled, “Mortal Kombat“? Let me tell you this… I recently watched it last night.
Wait… no other “fresh” ones to watch? Well, let’s just say the situation called for it… hehehe! Last night, my fiance and I were scavenging up stacked DVDs on the old shelves ‘coz we didn’t have the time or chance to rent outside. Unfortunately, the only available were old or shall we say… not so old ones…. wihihihi!!! So, after series of how-about-this-wait-no-not-this-one-next choices, we stumbled upon Mortal Kombat. We both saw this movie already… respectively — back when we still do not know each other hehehe! Anyways, we went on with it having ME equals EXCITED while my rhea settled on “NO CHOICE” wahahaha!!! — boys and superheroes rule!
At first, I thought we would end up consecutively uttering this “I know what will happen next… boring!” But surprisingly, it was like watching a whole new film! Mortal Kombat was released almost a decade ago, and that is considerably too long for our brains to handle and store film memories that old. This movie is actually super ass-kicking! I forgot how awesome it was — and still is! I remember watching it in big screen and experienced series of jolts of excitement. The movie was not dragging and the way it introduced its characters was well laid out, not to mention its consistency with the game I used to play (gameboy and playstation) with my friends back in my elementary years. *Sigh… those were fond memories. Anyways, back to the movie. What I like most about Mortal Kombat was its casting. To me, the actors were just perfect! And did I mention the punchlines? Whoever made the script… I salute you! The dialogues were straight and simple, but with a dash of Asian poetry. I loved it! And let’s not forget the signature soudtrack… yeah… the very addictive and hypnotic — in Mortal-Kombat-martial-arts-move-impersonation sense — music of Mortal Kombat! It is D best superhero movie track of all time!
When the movie ended with my rhea sound asleep — poor rhea hehehe! — I turned the TV and the player off with another movie-watching plan in mind… PART II. Yes, I’m going to watch the sequel one again although I remembered it being uberly disappointing. But, just the fun of rewatching it again… I’ll search for it and check it out again! I guess my fiance may have to bear with it one more time hehehe!

Kitana was hot… she was played by Talisa Soto. I thought she has a Filipino blood basing on the sound of the Family Name. Unfortunately, I skimmed through the net, she isn’t. Talisa is Puertorican.
