My Sony Ericsson Z550i is officially dead! After weeks of jumping from cellshop to another in hopes to recover my little baby… it’s done… done… and DONE!!!
Worst part is, all files were deleted. Goodbye to saved messages, photos, contacts, mp3s, videos — especially those anchored with sentimental values… wihihi!
Lesson learned: never force to turn on your cellphone in a low battery state. Constant on and off will damage both the software and the hardware.
That’s what happened to mine. At first, when my cellphone refused to open, I thought the battery went completely empty. I tried to recharge it, still the same. Then I had my cellphone examined to a nearby cellshop, and I was shocked when they declared that the problem lies on the cellphone, not on the battary. And the rest is history. Eventually, I just gave up. I lost the battle. The condition of my cellphone was beyond repair.
And so, I had no choice but to immediately buy a replacement. I settled for a reconditioned unit at that time for practicality’s sake. So, I got this one… Sony Ericsson T290i. Totally downgraded from the previous possession, so to speak… hehehe! But it still offers basic funtions of a regular cellphone… that’s more important. See image and specs below:
Sony Ericsson T290i
• Sound recorder
• Integrated speaker phone
• 32 voice polyphonic ringtones
• Melody composer (mono only)
• Messaging: SMS, MMS, e-mail
• Games: V-Rally or Five Stones plus downloadable game
• Picture phonebook
• Calendar
• WAP 1.2.1, GPRS
• Connectivity: USB, RS232 cable
• Vibration alert
• Dual band
Weeks went by, and I had no complaints with it except for its speed and battery lifespan, other than those, the rest were nothing major to me. I was contented. But here’s the problem… my fiance wasn’t… hehehe!
My rhea is not used to seeing me holding an outdated cellphone — nah… not really… just exaggerting hehehe! I mean, she was sad for what happened, and she wanted me to get a brand new unit that would at least rival the specs of my previous cellphone.
Countless of times I did not give in to her tempations, I resisted every persuasion — we need to be frugal these days
. Yet she was persistent. And one night, she lured me to a trap. She asked me to go with her for a window shopping in a cellshop because she, too, was planning to buy a new cellphone. At that time, I was vulnerable… was starting to envy others’ cellphones especially some of my friends’ cellphones. T290i was gradually giving me headaches… glitches slowly resurfaced… a typical case caused by a reconditioned unit.
And then, BAAM!!! Love at first sight! I fogot how loyal I was to Sony Ericsson when it hit me. Large screen yet comes in regualr sizes… an eyecandy aesthetics that led me to a target-locked decision. To cut the long story short, we bought it. Yeah, for the first time in my seemingly slow-motion life, I impulsively bought a pricy item in just a finger snap.
Don’t look at me like that. My fiance, when she discovered I was showing a hint of interest, did not waste a second and instantly shoved me a pile of persuasions. She’s all to be blamed… wihihihi! I was cornered, I gave in… and now, I’m holding a MyPhone T11:
Dimensions: 109.3 x 57.6 x 15mm
Weight: 95 g
Main Screen: 2.8″ TFT Touchscreen,262K Colors,240X320
Networks: GSM 900 / 1800
Bluetooth: Yes
Camera: 1.3 Megapixels
MP3 Player: Yes
Memory Card: Trans Flash
Java Support: Yes
Talk Time: 2 - 3 hours
Standby Time: 50 - 150 hours
Battery Type: 950 mAh Li-Ion
Pretty sleek, eh? I thought so. So far, it’s day 3 and no problems encountered so far. Although it’s made in China, but it’s a genuine unit. And it passed through NTC (The National Telecommunications Commission) screening. This placed me on the pack of relieved and secured new cellphone owners hehehe!
And so… I’m now officially an ex-sony-ericsson-fan-turned-myphone fanatic!
rhardozed hirit:
The price is surprisingly affordable for a touchscreen cellphone. It’s actually much cheaper than my then Sony Ericsson Z550i — though not comparable in terms of quality. GOOD DEAL indeed!
rhardozed last hirit:
Just purchased a 2-Gigabyte memory card yesterday… Booyah!
